The Works Inspectors shall provide oversight for the Construction Works in accordance with Project Documentation including specifications and the Owner’s guidelines in order to ensure that requirements regarding schedule, cost, security and quality are met.
Main Responsibilities:
• Provide support in reviewing all contractor-supplied QA/QC documentation for completeness, providing feedback to the Owner in order to approve or reject the QA/QC documentation. Works inspectors shall provide Quantitative Control Plan for the specific discipline assigned.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of all project documents
• Control of all the documentation related to the specific Works Inspector discipline coming from or submitted to the different stakeholders (public administration, utilities, landowner permits, etc.)
• Pubic administration and other stakeholders’ documentation shall be checked to ensure a proper control of compliment of requirements during Construction Works (Building Permit requirements, logbooks, specific agreements with stakeholders as for example landowners, utilities, etc.).
• Review and comment on contractors’ schedules together with the Contract Coordinator.
• Monitor the execution and implementation of the project schedule.
• Identify critical issues and make recommendations to the Construction Project Manager
• Review and provide comments to the project design and any modification proposal provided by the Construction Contractor.
• Review and comment on contactors’ equipment/material proposals.
• Provide oversight to ensure that the execution of work is in compliance with approved contracts.
• Provide assistance to the project team in complying with the overall project objectives
• Oversee contractors’ construction and commissioning works.
• General Check List of safety during walks on the Construction Site
• General check of the Construction Contractor is complying with the Environmental requirements.
• Quality Assurance Control to ensure that Construction Works are done in accordance with the projects design documents and that all tests and inspection points are performed by Construction Contractor according to the approved Quality Assurance Plan.
• Follow up of non-conformities.
• Validation of any work stoppage by the Construction Contractor.
• Prepare all the reports required in this specification. The Owner’s Construction Manager shall be informed of everything happening on the site.
• Develop effective relationships with contractors, suppliers, landowners, and the local community
• Ensure that the company’s safety, quality, environmental control, schedule, and cost objectives are achieved
• Maintain effective lines of communication with the Owner’s personnel responsible for the project along with all general contractors and sub-contractors
• Update Construction Progress in AURA system
• Coordination with other work inspectors involved in the Project.
• Review As-Built documentation provided by Construction Contractor.
• Collaboration with the Contract Coordination in preparing and review documentation packages for different purposes.
• Additional duties as required
Minimum Requirements:
Depending on project characteristics the number and qualification of works inspectors required can be different.
• Engineer Degree or higher qualification in the Works Inspector specific discipline assigned in the Project
• Inspector shall have in force license to perform official validation of works according local construction law, when applies.
• Full training related to the specific works discipline to be inspected.
• Knowledge of the specific legislation and codes applicable to the specific Works Inspector discipline
• 5 years in the power industry with experience in the specific work inspection to be provided
• Class B1 driving license and own vehicle to access all different sites of the works.
• Proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), AutoCAD and other software related to the specific inspector’s discipline, as for example AutoTurn.
Behavioral requirements:
• Ability to comprehend all construction documents including blueprints and drawings
• Ability to exhibit a professional demeanor to customers and other employees
• Visual acuity including sufficient depth perception, color recognition, and field of vision necessary to perform visual inspections, work with small parts, and take accurate measurements
• Strong problem-solving, statistical, and analytical skills
• Verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to be self-motivated
Specific knowledge for civil foundations, roads and platforms:
• Higher education, construction specialization;
• Experience in performing the function of Supervisor in the implementation of significant construction projects;
• Construction permits relevant to the industry without restrictions;
• Ability to work independently and properly prioritize tasks;
• Settings for effective and timely implementation of the set goals;
• Good knowledge of computer skills and driving license category B;
• Knowledge of the English language, Strong communication skills, written & oral;
• Experience in Wind Farm Civil and Road projects is mandatory
Physical Demands & Working Conditions:
• Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on project sites. Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
• Walking: Ability to walk more than 1 km per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites
• Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English, and the official language where is located the project, proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
• Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 30 kg and to occasionally lift items weighing between 30 and 45 kg.
• Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
• Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on project sites
• Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
